“The essence of being human is that one does not seek perfection.” ~ George Orwell

Welcome to my Blog Dear Readers! (✿◠‿◠)

While the stars above sparkled like angel fire, I was born into the earth sign of Taurus at St. Mary’s Hospital, Canada. Chapter One of my life’s story began with me and my parents moving around a lot. I traveled to-a-forth from Canada to The United States and back again to O’Canada. I am a product of a displaced child yet hold no resentment for it. My mother a skinny, hot blonde with a devotion to her daughter; stronger than any tyrant (was and still is) my best friend and confidant. My father, who I will always remember as a young Al Pachino type-of-character passed away when I was fifteen. Unfortunately, my father and I were not close. However, the chords of family will forever bind me to him and the string of happy memories (as little as they were) will survive.

I am a sun seeker, yet my skin is as pale as fresh snow. My idea of heaven is an endless coastline of beach and ocean. My thoughts often drift to a sleepy sea. I find myself often between the pages of Books; “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”. Although, my love for literature came to me later in life, there is no greater ecstasy (pour moi) that the written word. I started reading Novels in my mid-twenties, not because I didn’t want too but because I allowed my “dyslexia” to control me. Out of fear, I never read books unless they were for school. It wasn’t until I was twenty-three that I conquered my phobia. I switched off my negative self-talk and took each sentence one word at a time.

The first Novel I ever read from cover to cover was: Martina Cole’s THE KNOW a family drama and murder mystery. I had randomly picked it because it was 629 pages long (that to me was scarier than weighing myself after Thanksgiving dinner). I had let people define me as a slow reader, and so what if I was, I could read so I did; Book-Worm-Style!  I was determined to define who I was for me, myself and I, and not others; let them doubt for all I care. I am master of my own bookmark. Captain of my own soul, so I sailed away into the sea of fiction and never looked back.

When I started to write it stormed over me like bottled thunder. I realize I am not the best writer in the world, (who really is, is subjective, I am partial to Jane Austen myself) alas, I am a firm believer that we all have a unique writing style and story to tell, we just have to find like-minded readers. Just as readers we find like-minded authors that spark our fancy.

To this day, I continue to self-teach myself the craft of writing, it’s many facets and mysteries. I enjoy writing Paranormal Romance and Science Fiction in the genre of Young Adult. I love ‘coming of age stories’ and characters that transform themselves and become enlightened.

Stephen King said it best: “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There’s no way around these two things that I’m aware of, no shortcut.” ― Stephen KingOn Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

So, what is this Blog about?

Reflections on being an aspiring writer in this competitive world

In a nut shell, I am just a quintessential gal that you can find hunting for vintage clothing at flea markets by day, and watching Netflix’s by night. Sunday visits to my local Chapters reading the new releases with Starbucks in hand. Pizza and cats are better than bars and people. ☯ I am spiritual but not religious. ☮ I consider myself to be an Idealist & Futurist. ✌

Lucky for me my husband is a gamer (so he understands obsession) he quietly games while I quietly read & write. ✎ ✐

My favorite book is: George Orwell’s ~ 1984.

What does that say about me? Hummm…?
